Knitting: Pullover
This jumper is inspired by one of my daughter’s drawings. She said these are just random animals, not anything specific but she did want to show how they move. Hence the name “Animal Antics”. All proceeds from this pattern will off course be used to design more wonderful patterns for her.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
This sock pattern is inspired by the song lyrics: “You turn me right round, baby right round”, it is a whirlwind which sends you on a winding path. This is a fun, feminine design, a good choice for gift knitting. I should add that it is a nod to Cookie A. who has inspired the whole world with her innovative sock designs.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl was inspired by paint being mixed on an artist’s palette. Every time the colours meet new nuances appear.

I love playing around with my favourite lace stitch pattern dictionary. When my daughter saw the result she said: “It looks like you’re looking through the canopy layer of the rainforest”, so therefore “Rainforest Socks”.

Knitting: Ankle Sock
Life is full of twists and turns, hence the name of these socks. They are knitted top down in the round with a heel flap and short row heel turn. The pattern is made up of cables to create a textured pattern.
Knitting: Mittens
I was inspired by Latvian mittens with their sun symbols which have the meaning of change and renewal/hope. I find this is particularly suited to this time of the year and the holiday season. As they are not only worn at Christmas or Yuletide I chose the name Wintertide where “tide” merely means “a time of year”. There is a somewhat similar cro...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The shawl is knitted from the top down, starting at the back of the neck with an i-cord cast on.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
The patterns for these socks were inspired by Latvian mittens. The round shapes originally symbolized eternal life and movement in the form of the sun goddess in ancient Latvian mythology. What a great choice for the holiday season with it’s theme of renewal and the New Year.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
The pattern is available separately here or in issue 18 of the Addicted to Sock Knitting ezine.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I have seen Samba dancers wearing kerchiefs folded on the bias around their hips. The bias fabric hugs close to the body while dancing. Hence the name “Samba” for this comfortable sideways triangular shawl. The garter stitch fabric is knitted in two-row stripes with a slipped edge selvage making it an ideal project to learn this technique. It a...

Knitting: Washcloth / Dishcloth
Shadow knitting is colourful and fun. From above you see stripes but viewed from an angle a leaf appears. I have made a dischcloth, but why not use this square as part of a blanket project? Make lots of them and sew them together to make a throw perhaps?
Knitting: Washcloth / Dishcloth
If you look from above you see stripes, viewed from an angle a bee appears. This is a fun, colourful project to brighten up your home. I have made a dishcloth. You could equally use the square to form part of a blanket project. Why not make bees in different colours and sew the squares together?

I like to go out with a group of urban sketchers but on my last trip I was struck by the abundant varieties of leaves around us, so I sketched them instead of buildings. To remember that walk I came up with this pair of socks.

“Lacey” is my cat. I thought it would be good to name a lace sweater pattern after her as she loves knitting so much.

This is a lovely faux cable hat which is deceptively easy to knit. I have supplied links to my YouTube tutorials covering the techniques mentioned. The result is a soft, squishy hat with loads of texture.

We are frequent visitors to an animal sanctuary near Bristol. It is home to a large number of exotic species which feel at home surrounded by palm trees. The large number of trees provide enough shelter to make such a sanctuary possible. While strolling through this tropical paradise recently I was inspired by the straight leaves of the palms a...

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Cables were what first drew me to knitting and they have not lost their appeal. The stitch pattern is from Hitomi Shida’s recently published book of 260 stitch patterns. Once you discover Japanese stitch patterns there is no going back. I certainly have to make just one more thing with this pattern and, oh, the next one is so delightful too…. T...

This is a lovely thick, textured scarf with large cables. The patterning only occurs every twelfth row making it an easy pattern to knit. The cables are reversible but the geometric effect achieved differs front and back.
Knitting: Scarf
This one-color brioche stitch scarf is knitted in aran weight yarn featuring a large bold leaf design. I have chosen a custom dyed yarn hand-dyed in the “Legend of Zelda” colourway by a shop on etsy called “GamerCrafting” however you could successfully use Malabrigo Rios or Noro Kureyon (aran) instead.

The abutilon is a type of plant used to treat wounds. I was inspired by its color variations and simple shape. Using a variegated yarn will result in a zigzag pattern over the chevrons, pointing in the opposite direction, which stand out attractively against the dark background yarn.

Knitting: Scarf
This stunning two colour brioche stitch scarf is inspired by the bracts of the bougainvillea plant. It has a leaf pattern which would show off a variegated yarn against a solid colour. The stitch pattern is reversible but not precisely the same so that the back of the scarf adds interest but has a less defined leaf pattern.
Knitting: Scarf
This beautiful scarf uses a dark background to make a variegated yarn stand out. It is reversible with dark leaves against a lighter background when you flip it over.
