Crochet: Afghan block
Sunny Sunflower is made in seven rounds and works up quickly. The background part of the square is attached behind the petals leaving the petals loose. The rounds build on the previous round eliminating the need for sewing parts together.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This little hat is perfect for either a boy or girl. The eyelets begin at a different stitch on each eyelet row which creates a slight swirl in the design. Cross Purposes is knitted in worsted weight yarn using seed stitches and popcorn stitches to create texture. Instructions for seed stitch and popcorn stitch are provided in the pattern. Knit, purl, and stockinette stitches are also used. Both written instructions and a stitch chart are included.
Crochet: Floral block
Daffodowndillies is an old-fashioned word for daffodils. Beautiful yellow daffodils I saw on our walks this spring inspired me to create this afghan square. Recently having worked with the crossed double crochet stitch, I chose it for the trumpet of the daffodil.
Knitting: Afghan block
The pattern offers two options for this knitted square. The first produces a cross in stockinette stitch with a seed stitch background. The second version substitutes garter stitch for the seed stitch background. Instructions for seed stitch are included.
