These are an easy introduction to working German short rows. They are worked flat in garter stitch (knit every row), sideways around the hand, with the cast on edge seamed to the cast off edge, and a thumb gusset worked with German short rows about half way round so the seam runs down the outside edge of the hand. Knitting: Mittens
Knitted in 2 colour Brioche in the round (I use the magic loop method), the mittens are extra warm and squishy and fully reversible (can be worn either side out). They will work in any 8ply yarn. If you want these to fit a large man, you can go up in needle size to 4 or 4.5mm.

Knitting: Cup / Mug
This pattern creates a cosy that will fit easily around a mug with a 26cm circumference. I created it to give to my child’s teacher who likes her skinny cappucinos, I’m hoping she’ll appreciate them staying warmer for longer in the winter.
