Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a sophisticated stockinette stitch crescent shaped shawlette with an edge of beautiful Hilton Lace.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This fingering weight shawlette begins with a simple diamond lace edging, knit separately from end to end, then the body of the crescent shaped shawlette is picked up and knit using short row shaping.
Knitting: Cowl
Want a cabled cowl, but easier to make and without a cable needle? Then this pattern is for you. It is knit in the round, minimal purling, no seaming or grafting. When you are done, weave in the ends and wear with confidence. The fabric does bias slightly, but that enhances the wearability of the cowl.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
An easy knit, blend of sporty and feminine, this charted and written pattern is easy to follow and a fast knit. The lace edge is worked first then short rows complete the shawlette. It uses approx 420 yards of sock (fingering) weight yarn. Lovely in a hand painted yarn!
Knitting: Cowl
The Weekend Infinity Cowl is really that, an infinity scarf or wrapped cowl that can be completed in a weekend. Worked in the round - so no seaming!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This is a pattern that I designed in 2006, but since I use it for my profile pic, I thought I would share. Great Intarsia project, knit in panels and stitched together.
Knitting: Cowl
Lady Mary is the eldest daughter at Downton Abbey and in search of a suitable husband. She is dressed for parties and events where an acceptable suitor might be in attendance.
Knitting: Scarf
Daisy of Downton Abbey is the Kitchen Maid and every time I see her on the series, I think of sepia tones. The yarn used for this is sepia in nature, but with some green thrown in for good measure.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Anna is the head housemaid and provides care for the three daughters in Downton Abbey. The apron she wears over the black uniform has a beautiful eyelet edging. Anna’s Shawlette has a knit-on edging that is reminiscent of this edging. In fact it is a knitted lace edging from an issue of “HomeWork 1891.
Knitting: Scarf
This is a scarf that probably Carson would wear when he is off duty at Downton Abbey. The scarf is a type of Gansey knit pattern, so the needle size and yarn show the stitch definition.
Knitting: Scarf, Shawl / Wrap
Gwen was a housekeeper in the first season of Downton Abbey. We all loved her spunk and desire to be more than a servant, or “in service” as she states. Her white apron worn over the black dress had scalloped edges, hence the scallops on this small shawlette, called a “shoulder scarf.”
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Lady Sybil on Downton Abbey is practical and well grounded. Her life is different from the other “upstairs” residents of Downton in that she prefers helping the less fortunate. In this practical role of service, she will need to have a practical wrap - hence Lady Sybil, unpretentious, not fussy, warm and soft.
Knitting: Scarf, Cowl
This is an easy knit, pattern is easy to follow. Seldeg added a crocheted edge, see pic.
Knitting: Scarf
The colors used reminded me of pvc pipes, but I don’t think that is what is meant by Eleven Pipers in the song…
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf is knit in 2 halves and joined with a unique join in the center - pictures and direction are in the pattern. The deep chevron ends and repeats throughout the scarf remind me of ballet dancers, cheerleaders, ice skaters and others who leap through the air.
Knitting: Scarf
The hoopskirt knitting stitch used in the scarf reminded me of Tutus and Ballerinas. So I used Pink Panther yarn for the rows that would create the skirt and white for the rows that would resemble the bodies of the dancers. Of course any color combination would work well.
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf is knit with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout. The scarf uses 7 basic colors and there are multiple color changes from Goldenrod on one end to Teal on the other. In order for the ends to be the same, the scarf is knit in 2 halves and then joined with Kitchener stitch (an internet address for a great tutorial on knitty.com is...
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf is knit from one side to the other, beginning with the knotted ladder edge. The colors are reminiscent of the beautiful MaCaws of the tropics.
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf knits one fringe end first, then pick up and knit the body of the scarf for half the length. Repeat for the second half of the scarf and do a Kitchener stitch to join the halves. An internet address for a great Kitchener stitch tutorial from knitty.com is included in the directions.
Knitting: Scarf
This is a cute “feather boa” type of scarf, consisting of two different colored ruffles that are knit together from one end of the scarf to the opposite. In addition the scarf is adorned with feathers which provide and element of whimsy. Knit in tropical colors of Teal and Aqua with bulky weight yarn and large needles. Warning: Knitt...
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf is not difficult to knit, using a 3:1 ribbing stitch for the body after a ruffled beginning edge. In order to have the ends look the same, it is knit from each end and joined in the middle with Kitchener stitch (an internet address for a great Kitchener stitch tutorial on knitty.com is included in the pattern).
Knitting: Scarf
An all-over cable design finished on the ends with Corkscrew tassels. Not too challenging, but looks more difficult than it really is. Knitting cables on the first 8 stitches and the last 8 stitches of the scarf creates interesting edges.
