Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Birdcage is a fun, quick, and easy beanie, knitted in reverse stockinette with columns of knit stitches and an i-cord loop that give the appearance of an old fashioned birdcage.
Knitting: Pullover
My daughter defines girl for herself, and no rules of girliness can hold her. She loves pink, plays hard, and is her own person in every way. I designed this sweater for her, with “boyish” details but in a fiery pinkish purple. Practical, with pockets; handsome, with a pointed collar and garter stitch details. Truly unisex. Knit one ...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Mariner is a fun, quick., and easy beanie, with extra long ribbing and contrast color stripes.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Panel is a fun, quick, and easy beanie, knitted in twisted rib with a garter stitch panel.
Knitting: Cowl
Smoke Gets In Your Eyes is a squishy, textured cowl, which can easily be made to accommodate your preferences and available yarn. You can easily adjust the circumference or make a shorter cowl.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Babies need socks, but it’s hard to find baby socks that will stay on. The ties at the ankle keeps these socks firmly on!
Knitting: Neck / Torso - Other
This is the first pattern in a small collection. The ebook will be available again when the next pattern is ready.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Who do you see through the looking glass? Is it the White Queen? Or is it you, perhaps—with lovely fingerless mitts? Take a look and see what you may see. Go on. You may find something lovely there.
Knitting: Pullover
Every young Viking lad or lass needs a good tunic. And when that young Viking’s mother/father/auntie knits, shouldn’t it be a handknit tunic? (Of course it should.) Dragon Rider is so much fun to knit—all in one piece, from the top down, with minimal finishing and several small, fun details. Must love adventure (and short rows)!
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
It’s a shawl! It’s a scarf! It’s…oh, who cares. It’s an obtuse triangle with super-simple construction (commuter knitting, anyone?) that shows off variegated yarns brilliantly. Worked top-down, you can simply knit until (nearly) out of yarn. Written for fingering weight but easily adaptable to any yarn.
Knitting: Pants
I designed these sweet bloomers to match the Seraphina dress. I loved the idea of taking the contrast color and making it the star! There’s a little bit of positive ease built in to fit easily over a diaper. Cloth diaper users may prefer to go up a size. These bloomers give the look of a diaper “soaker” but are purely decorative.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The hat in my Fireside collection, Hot Toddy is a slightly slouchy, unisex hat with a textured pattern that echoes the patterning in Hot Cocoa and Hot Buttered Rum, with patterned decreases to match.
Knitting: Dress
My second baby was a girl, the first girl in the family (and the only girl out of five grandchildren). Between me, her grandmothers, and her aunties—not to mention hand-me-downs and gifts from friends--she has a wardrobe to envy. And not only is it fun to dress her, but I have found a great deal of knitwear inspiration! Seraphina is loosely base...

Snorri Thorfinnsson was the first known non-native child born in the Americas, in the early 11th century, the son of Viking explorers in Vinland, on the eastern coast of Canada. His story is told in the Vinland Sagas. I designed this hat for my Viking husband (who is not actually a Viking at all).
Knitting: Scarf
The scarf in my Fireside collection, Hot Buttered Rum is a graphic scarf that—let’s face it—is equally suited for men or women. The textured diamond motifs look great in a solid or tonal variegated yarn.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The wrap in my Fireside collection, Hot Cocoa is big and cozy, with a simple graphic diamond pattern that looks great in a solid or tonal variegated yarn. With simplified WS patterning, this is perfect TV knitting.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett was the first novel I read, approximately five minutes after I figured out that whole reading business. It has remained a favorite for nearly three decades, and was much loved by many others for a good 75 years before I found it. One of my favorite characters is Susan Sowerby, Dickon and Martha’...
Knitting: Cloche Hat
Knitted from the top of the crown down, Virginia is a 1920s-inspired cloche with an asymmetrical brim, knitted with worsted weight yarn at a tighter-than-recommended gauge for a firm fabric that will keep its shape without the extra step of felting. A shorter crown and contrast band, along with a stockinette brim, differentiate Virginia from Gin...
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
In the cold days ahead, keep your hands cozy while maintaining much needed dexterity with a pair of these stylish mitts. Like murderous atoms on a bender, the cables on these mitts join and split, weaving around, making and breaking bonds as they please, and never letting you forget just what got you here in the first place.
Knitting: Skirt
This A-line skirt is easy to knit and fun to wear! It’s swingy and fun and the perfect way to use your favorite variegated yarn. Choose a size that is at least an inch smaller than the wearer’s waist.
Knitting: Cardigan
From the moment I designed Posy Cardi, I knew I wanted to make a boys’ version. Paw Print Cardi is that sweater! Featuring the same asymmetry and finishing details that make Posy so lovely, with a lace paw print motif up the front.
Knitting: Cowl
Anatidae is the animal family that includes ducks, swans, and geese.
Knitting: Cloche Hat
Knitted from the brim up, Dorothy is the second in a series of 1920s-inspired cloches, following Ginger. Dorothy starts with a garter brim and decorative portrait frame created with short rows. Using two gorgeous shades of Malabrigo Rios (or your favorite worsted weight hand dyed yarn) this is a challenging but fun knit!
Knitting: Cloche Hat
Knitted from the top of the crown down, Ginger is a 1920s-inspired cloche with an asymmetrical brim, knitted with worsted weight yarn at a tighter-than-recommended gauge for a firm fabric that will keep its shape without the extra step of felting. Choose a contrast brim color for an extra pop of color!

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
A garter lace edging makes this simple hat as special as the yarn it’s knitted from! Perfect for the whole family, and using just one skein of Koigu Kersti—or about 50 grams of your favorite dk or light worsted yarn.

Knitting: Cowl
When I got my hands on two balls of Techno, one in a natural shade and one in a bright color, I knew that they needed to be worked together somehow. This simple slipstitch pattern is colorwork without any real colorwork, and it shows off the yarn perfectly. The three lengths offer nice variety for your wardrobe – 20” to provide a warm collar, 32...

Knitting: Tee
Nola Jane was originally published in Petite Purls. This new version has adjusted sizing for a better fit, a new schematic, and is rewritten for clarity. Technical editing by Laura Cameron.
Knitting: Cardigan
Emmett is a fitted cardigan for boys and girls, sized from birth to 10 years and knitting up fast in worsted weight yarn. The only special skill needed is short rows for the collar (see pattern notes for full instructions).
Knitting: Pants
I named these sweet baby pants for a children’s game in which one child hops over another’s back. The cable reminds me of braided hair and the color reminds me of all things spring, most especially the frogs! Appropriate for a boy or a girl, soft enough to sleep in, and sturdy enough for play.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Originally designed for charity knitters, this hat is intended to fit newborn babies ranging from the tiniest of micro- preemies up to full term babies and slightly beyond.
