There were those that doubted that such a legendary hat could exist, one that could encapsulate all of the beauty and mystique of the legendary Loch Ness Monster. They said that cables outlining the totally real shape of Nessie would be too difficult, nay, monstrously fiendishly impossible.

In Greek mythology Hera had a servant named Argus who had a hundred eyes that she charged with keeping a watch over Io so that Zeus wouldn’t do, well, other things with Io. Zeus was very interested in doing said other things with Io and thus made his own minion/son (Hermes) kill Argus.

“Lord Hong was watching the tea ceremony. It took three hours, but you couldn’t hurry a good cuppa.” - Interesting Times by Terry Pratchett
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
In the Odyssey Odysseus and his men came across a race of people who ate only the louts plants that grew in abundance there which had a narcotic effect upon them. Naturally, they’d be too sleepy to finish more than one pair and would have to share.

I was watching the Tudors and sketching when this design popped out, and then I decided to try out the luxurious Finito on it. The pattern worked up quickly and I had to make another pair in Tosh Light as a gift.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Using the main motif from the Hatteras Hat I designed a pair of quick fingerless gloves using some leftover bulky yarn. These can be worked in one color, or two as pictured.

Coniferae, also known as Pinophyta, is the division of plants that include pines, firs, and other evergreens. Last year I had to make seven of these to satisfy my family’s need to adorn their heads with conifers and now, a year later, I can finally look my own pattern in the face and share the joy of gymnosperms.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Angiosperm is a two colored that layers solid lace and cable floral motifs with multi-colored stockinette stripes. Inspired by a flower blooming, it starts with a bud just beginning to form and ends with flowers in full bloom along the edge.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Bogvine came about when a neglected motif met a colorway I couldn’t resist and suddenly Unloved Motif insisted on calling itself Bogvine. Suddenly I knew this pattern had always been a sinuous swamp denizen meant to adorn arms.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Cogworks, like clockwork but with more cogs. Inspired by steampunkery the main motif resembles interlocking cogs while the thumb features a secondary gear characteristic.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Suppose you want to proclaim to one and all that you are wearing a knitted hat of moderate to severe awesomeness, but you don’t want to people to start examining your head to close. You want to knit a knit pattern. Knitception some might call it, I prefer to think of it as a metaknit.

The Hatteras Hat takes the iconic Hatteras Lighthouse as the inspiration for the main cable motif with its alternating bands of stockinette and reverse stockinette. Cable gulls flank it and below a school of fish swim around the brim. It’s the perfect cool weather hat to remind you of sunny days at the beach. Worked in the round from the top do...

Ah, mitosis, that special time in a cell’s life when it gets tired of being alone replicating DNA and wants to split into two. The cable evolved from a doodle motif meant for a sweater into a hat. As I knit the prototype I realized that the main motif reminded me of cell division, which begs the question: why was mitosis on my mind?

Rosa Rugosa also goes by the name saltsprey rose and is a hardy plant that grows on the coast in parts of Asia. Like its namesake and inspiration, this beret can go anywhere.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Meliora began as a way to use a skein of Mal sock that had thus far defied all other project attempts. It wanted to be a shawl and would not be happy any way else.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
After an undisclosed number of viewings, Labyrinth remains my favorite movie of all time. Curled up in my favorite chair with popcorn-scented fingers working on another project, and idea formed: Labyrinth mitts would be awesome.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These are the companion mitts for the Fireworks Beret. They are worked so that they are mirror images of one another.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
This is a slouchy beret style hat knit in the round from the top down. The cable design is fully charted.
Knitting: Cardigan
I wanted a light cardigan that would be flattering without having to do endless rows of plain stockinette stitch.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
I have recently fallen in love with both fingerless gloves and colorwork. I had a skein of deep purple and one of silvery grey that demanded to be knit together, but I couldn’t find a pattern that fit what I had in mind.
Knitting: Scarf
This is a simple scarf that is a great accent in warmer weather. I wanted something that would use up an errant ball of Noro, was quick, and would work for warm weather.
