Knitting: Necklace
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Knitting: Necklace
Some people get itchy feet in the summer or fall, but I always get the urge to take a little road trip in the spring. I love watching the bright green leaves unfurl and that feeling of renewal, which then makes me excited to get back home again to start working on my own garden. This year, in 2016, I drove up to the Canadian Rockies to see a fr...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Around mid-winter I was craving a lap blanket, one that I could also wrap around myself as I puttered around the house, i.e., one that would not fall off my shoulders while I fixed tea. I didn’t finish the pattern by Saint Patrick’s Day like I had hoped, but it’s done now, and I’ll take my lucky clover whenever I can find it!
Knitting: Cowl
This zigzag cowl is for those frigid winter days when the snow/rain/wind is blowing you every which way. It’s fully reversible and tall enough to be pulled up over your head like a scarf, while still keeping your neck warm, if you forget your hat. We all need a bit of plush insulation from the elements on days like this. Cozy up and stay warm!
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
It’s a family tradition to wait until New Year’s Day to peruse next year’s seed catalogs. I, for one, couldn’t wait to start ogling my options for romanesco broccoli, so I designed this hat to bide my time until I could officially start planning my summer garden. This Brassica-inspired toque has a great texture and is the perfect floppy accesso...

Knitting: Brimmed Hat
Does anyone remember that scene in Jurassic Park when the angry dilophosaurus spreads its neck wings and spits at the people in the car? No? Well. Us knitters have to get our inspiration from somewhere.
Knitting: Brimmed Hat
During the cool summers on the Oregon coast, we often find ourselves in a conundrum. It’s sunny enough that we need a hat with a brim but cool enough that we choose a beanie instead, leaving ourselves squinty, irritated, and over-dressed for the season. (Of course we have sunglasses. But why do they always get so lost so quickly?). Anyway. This...
Knitting: Brimmed Hat
I love sun hats, but because they take up so much space, they often don’t make the cut for getting packed on weekend trips. But not this one! This lightweight linen sun hat is floppy and foldable — and like all linens, it even looks better when it’s on the wrinkly side.

Seashells, seashells, seashells!
Knitting: Headband
As soon as I finished this headband, I knew I would be it wearing every day. It’s loose enough to be comfortable and interesting enough to invite compliments should I decide to leave the house. And its subtle colors go with almost anything–all you have to do is adjust the twist to find the combination that suits the day.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Chunky comfort socks! Leg warmers with feet! A fast project for impatient knitters. These are knit in a chunky superwash wool blend to allow for near-instant finished project gratification and easy long-term care. They can also be worn inside out for a different swirl effect.
Knitting: Necklace
I guarantee that this super-soft necklace will invite comments wherever you go. It’s a dramatic accent to any neckline and can also double as a spring-weight scarf for a bit of extra warmth! It can be worn many ways--with the clasp in back, with the clasp in front, twisted, or as a retro-inspired head ornament.
Knitting: Bracelet
Here on the Oregon Coast, one of my favorite signs of spring is the bright new growth on evergreen trees. It looks as if they’ve all gone to get manicures and french tips to ready themselves for summer. Hello spring evergreens and your fresh new tips! I’m joining the party with my bracelet.
Knitting: Necklace
I’ve always had a thing for the shape of dried poppy pods. They’re such striking remnants of a summer garden that I like them even more than the flowers themselves. This poppy pod-inspired necklace also reminds me of why I was drawn to creating knit jewelry in the first place--it’s so soft and lightweight, it’s like accessorizing yourself with ...
Knitting: Pullover
I have a friend who is an amazing painter and lives in an old farmhouse overlooking the Pacific Ocean (Huckleberry Farm). She wanted to recreate a favorite winter smock she’d been wearing foryears and voilà! This cozy layer is open at the sides and tied together with simple i-cords (thus, it fits most). It’s the perfect thing to wear on a day i...
Knitting: Headband
Doesn’t lemon cake sound delicious? I love headwraps. They give extra warmth without making me feel as if I’m being trapped by the tight confines of a brainwave-restricting cap. The only problem is they’re usually on the floppy side and have a tendency to fall off. Particularly annoying is when they fall over my eyes while I’m trying to do yoga...
