Mamalou
My name is Jackie and my artist’s name is Mamalou. Mamalou is a woman from a children’s show in Holland in the 1960s where Pipo the clown does clown things and his wife, Mamalou does homey things. In The Netherlands, I learned to knit and crochet in second grade in school.
I have two grown sons and live in the Wild West in the US: I visit four states regularly throughout a normal non-Covid year: Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Montana. Wherever I travel, I buy yarns, and often locally produced wools.
I knit because I like to have something to do with my hands. I also like to design original projects with new challenges for me. I am learning about the digital challenges posting the designs online as well.
I miss my local knit group, since we have not met for over a year. It is a loss in creative sharing and girlfriends as well.
