The final chapter of our Star-Crossed Lovers collection, A Rose’s Scent, captures the timeless romance of Romeo and Juliet in a quick, beginner-friendly design. This scarf features an elegant lace center that is surprisingly easy to master, offering a fast and satisfying project for any skill level. With instructions for sizes S, M, and L—plus the flexibility to adjust it to any custom length—it’s the perfect way to finish the trilogy with a piece of literary-inspired luxury that is as sweet to knit as it is to wear.

A Rose’s Scent is the third and final part of the Star-Crossed Lovers collection, designed to be a relaxing and quick knit. While the pattern is written for DK weight yarn on 4.5 mm needles, it’s completely adaptable—you can use anything from fingering to chunky yarn to highlight your favorite fiber. Solid or light tonal colors really show off the lace detail, while darker or variegated yarns give it a softer, subtler look.

Hitting the gauge is not a necessity, but for reference, my gauge for the lace repeat at the main body is 15 sts by 20 rows = 4’ blocked. It is worth noting that the original repeat is a multiple of 5, but for this pattern, I made it 10 as it increases in even numbers.

The scarf starts with a simple garter increase section to create a gentle width before moving into the main pattern. From there, it’s a soothing mix of garter stitch and lace that adds just the right amount of charm without being fussy. When you’ve reached the length you want, easy decreases shape the other end into a soft point for a balanced finish. There is also a built-in faux I-cord edge that works up as you go, so the scarf looks polished without any extra effort.

Offered in sizes S, M, and L, this scarf is incredibly flexible and beginner-friendly. Because the stitch repeat is so simple (a multiple of 10 plus 8), you can easily adjust the width and length to create anything from a slim neckerchief to a giant wrap. It’s a quick project, and there are step-by-step video tutorials linked in the pattern to help you along the way. The result is a timeless, romantic accessory that captures the spirit of the collection in a piece that is as sweet to knit as it is to wear.

This pattern is 6 pages long, but there are only 3 pages of actual knitting instructions. Look at the pattern photos to find a sample page of the pattern!
