Our backyard has several oak trees, and each autumn the acorns fall to the ground covering our yard and providing food for the squirrels. This semi-circular shawl is filled with acorns, both small and large, just as our yard is in the fall. In this piece, each acorn is surrounded by its own little lace frame providing an allover lace pattern in the body of the shawl. The body of the shawl is worked first, from the top center down, and includes 4 identical segments along with a 3-stitch garter edge. Once the body of the shawl is complete, the bottom lace edging, which features another acorn lace pattern, is attached perpendicularly by joining with the live stitches of the body.

Two sizes are available: a one-skein version and a 2 skein version. Size is easily adjustable with instructions given in the pattern.

Minimal written instructions are given as the pattern is mainly charted.

Suitable for intermediate knitters.

Pattern has been test knit and tech edited. Many thanks to Emily for modeling and the use of her beautiful yard and home.
