Make your own Anomalocaris! The Anomalocaris, or “weird shrimp”, was an apex predator in the ancient Cambrian seas. It is well known from the Burgess Shale fossil site in Canada, among other paleontological sites. Reaching around 1.25 feet/38 cm long, the Anomalocaris was a giant in its watery home around 500 million years ago.

Pattern includes instructions to make your own life-sized Anomalocaris. The 30 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Anomalocaris. PLUS there is an 11 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make an Anomalocaris using Worsted weight yarn.

Recommended for INTERMEDIATE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses unusual soft sculpting techniques to create the shaping of the body. These are supplemented by detailed instructions and photographs.

A finished Anomalocaris made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 15.5” long from nose to tail, 1.5” tall from back to belly, and 9” wide from flipper to flipper.

To make an Anomalocaris using Worsted weight yarn you will need:
Body: 105 yds
Fins: 85 yds
P-Elements: 10 yds main + 2 yds accent
Frontal Appendages: 20 yds
G (4/4.25mm) crochet hook (or preferred amigurumi hook)
