Austere Top is a minimalistic summer top featuring a boat neckline, regular fit and cropped length.
The design is worked top down with slip-stitch details along the center front and sides, as well as built-in I-cord edges around the armholes. This top doesn’t require any finishing except weaving in the ends.
Choose your favorite summer yarn for warm days, or use wool blend yarn for cooler weather during the mid-season period.
Austere Top is a versatile piece for a timeless wardrobe all year round.

It’s a new design added to Austere patterns family, including Austere Tee and Austere Blouse as well.

Austere Top is worked top down and seamlessly.
First, the neckline is worked with increases for shaping shoulders. Two options for neckline included in the pattern: the first one – with German short rows – for slightly lower neck on the front, and the second one – beginner friendly version – without short rows.
Once the neckline shaping is ready, back and front yokes are worked separately to underarms with built-in I-cord edges and slip-stitch details on the center front. After, back and front yokes are joined and worked in the round to the hem with slip-stitch details on the sides. Body is finished with delicate ribbing.
This top requires no finishing except for weaving in a few ends.
