Black Cat Basics patterns are designed for beginner
knitters who want to make something they will actually want to wear.

The Basics Cowl Bulky is an excellent first knitting project, as it’s knit flat with no increasing or decreasing, and only uses the knit stitch. The shorter version wraps around the neck once, and the longer version twice.

Needles:
10 mm/US size 15 straight or circular needle(s) (cowl is worked flat)

Notions: Tapestry needle (for sewing up)

Yarn:
Woolly Yarn Co. Super Woolly (100% NZ wool, 100 metres/109 yards per 200g)
colour(s) pictured: “I’m The Moss” (shorter version), “Smokey Joe” (longer version)
Quantities Needed: 1 skein for the shorter version, 2 skeins for the longer version
If substituting yarn, approx. amounts required: 100 (200) metres / 109 (218) yards total

Or similar yarn that can achieve gauge

Note: The citron yellow and beige versions pictured were knit in Rowan Big Wool (1 ball each)

Sizes: Short (Long)

Finished Measurements:
Short: 21 inches / 53 cm circumference, 9 inches / 23 cm height
Long: 48 inches / 122 cm circumference, 9 inches / 23 cm height
