Capelets and ponchos are so easy to pop over your head as a quickly added accessory or wrap. They provide a great way to cover your shoulders to add some warmth when needed and stay in place without pins or clips. Sporting an ample neck opening, while sitting nicely on your shoulders, this capelet will not mess with your hairdo.

The capelet is knit in the round from the top and employs Faroese type shaping. Three different butterfly stitch patterns are featured involving some special techniques, which are clearly explained in the pattern. It can be made in either sport or fingering weight and finished size will depend on your stitch and row gauge.

Yarn: 1000-1100 of Sport Weight yarn was used in the original. Fingering weight is also an option with 950 - 1000 yards required. Solid, tonal or gradient yarns will work best. A speckle or variegated may be used in the bottom border.

Color coded charts are used with clear explanations of all the symbols and special techniques used. Two options for the bind off give a choice for how you wish your lower edge to look. This pattern begins with written instructions then switches to charts only for the main part of the pattern.
