I love cables and I love hearts. I came up with this design when I wanted hearts on my socks for Valentine’s Day and didn’t like what I was seeing.

Currently, this design is for a medium size foot. I generally use 64 stitches for my socks, but I worried about the cables making the sock too tight so I upped it to 68 stitches and it fits perfectly.

It would be easy to modify this design for a smaller (or larger) sock by decreasing (or increasing) the number of knit stitches on either side of the cable panel.

Yardage required depends on how long you make the leg. My socks, with a leg of about 6” or so, took about 275 yards. Remember that cables use more yarn.
