I created this hat in honor of my mom. I wasn’t able to make it for her while she was going thru chemotherapy and losing her hair, but she was my biggest fan and without her encouragement, I’m sure I never would have tried coming up with a pattern of my own.

My mom passed away on November 6, 2015 after a 6 month battle with cancer. This pattern was part of my grieving process, because I knew she believed in me, and always told me I could do it if I would just try.

So this is my Carol Ann Beanie/Slouch Hat pattern. I hope you all will think it is as pretty as I do.

I made this hat using less then 1 skein, although you may want to have two skeins of whatever yarn you choose to use just to be safe. I chose to make my pom pom a different color but if you want it the same color, you might end up needing a second skein. The pink hat is made using Caron Simply Soft and an I hook, the blue one was made using worsted weight acrylic yarn, and a J hook.

I tested this pattern, and my daughter tested it, we found no issues with how it is written. However, if you have any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me at mimamazzocchi@yahoo.com or therusticbumblebee@yahoo.com, and I will do my best to help you out. It is the very first pattern I have written, so any constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated!
