Christmas Tree Hat Pattern:
This pattern is written in US crochet terms. I have included
instructions for the advanced stitches. If you are still having trouble you can find tutorials on YouTube by searching for keywords.
I made this pattern using Caron Simply Soft yarn and a US size
I/5.5mm hook. If you prefer a different yarn please be sure to use an appropriate sized hook for that yarn. Keep in mind yarn weight and hook size will change the size of the finished product. It is very important to watch your tension throughout the pattern.
If your stitches are crocheted too tight the hat will not have any
stretch and may come out too small. I also made this pattern using a double strand of Caron Simply Soft throughout, while keeping the same 5.5mm hook and the hat came out slightly larger. Done with a double strand it will fit an adult head with extra room, and was quite loose on a child’s head.
When there is color change between rows of leaves and bulbs, do not cut and finish off yarn. Carry the other color along the inside of the hat. This technique helps avoid having to weave in multiple ends.

● Hook US I/5.5mm
● Tapestry needle and scissors
● Caron Simply Soft in your choice of color for the “trunk” and
“leaves.”
● Gauge: 2inches = 8 HDC foundation chain
● Recommend double strand Lion Brand: Date Night yarn in Tree
Agate color for the bulbs. But any color will work including
variegated yarn.
Final Size: Adult
For a smaller size you can use a lighter weight yarn and or a smaller hook to change the gauge of the final product.
