Crochet cardigan pattern
This is a crochet pattern only, not a finished product.
The Charlotte cardigan is an elegant, oversized, super soft and light cardigan which is perfect for spring and warmer weather.
This pattern is named after my beautiful, sweet and caring mother. I love my mom very much and wanted to name this design after her.
Right after purchasing, you will receive three downloadable PDFs: two versions of the pattern and a lookbook.
I’ve included two versions of the pattern. The main one has step by step instructions whereas the second version is more compact and the instructions are separated into rows and not steps. That’s why this version is shorter than the main one but it contains all the same information.
I’ve included a lookbook which you’ll receive along with the pattern as a separate PDF. The lookbook includes photos and information on my off-white cardigan and all my testers’ cardigans.
This pattern is beginner-friendly.
This pattern is “made to measure” which means you’ll make it according to your own measurements.
The cardigan works up pretty quickly. I can finish one in 1-2 days.
You won’t have to work “usual” decreases or increases and you don’t have to make a gauge swatch but I’ve written down instructions on how to make it just in case.
I’ve written down how many stitches and rows I made in each step for comparison. But as the pattern is “made to measure”, the number of stitches and rows you’ll make, will likely be different from mine.
This pattern includes pictures to help you through the various steps and video tutorials on how to work the ribbing and sewing the cardigan. That’s why it’s rather long.
This pattern uses US terminology and the metric system.
Materials:
- Yarn: I recommend using lace weight mohair and silk blend yarn and making the cardigan double or single stranded. You can use any yarn weight you want but keep in mind that the look of your cardigan will be different than mine. The amount of yarn you’ll need depends on your size, yarn weight and your desired length of the top. For my double stranded off-white cardigan, I used 6 skeins of 72 % mohair and 28 % silk yarn blend (2 ply) from Hjertegarn which measures 210 m/25 g.
- Crochet hook: You’ll need two sizes: 1) a big one for everything except the wrists (the primary one), and 2) a smaller one for making tight scs around the bottom of the sleeves (wrists) (the secondary one). The small one should be around half the size of the bigger one. I used size 10 as my primary hook for my double stranded cardigan and size 5,5 as my smaller hook.
