EDDA
The influence of Norwegian Selbu rose mittens very likely spread to Iceland at some point. But Icelandic knitters also derived their own versions of the eight-petal rose pattern in many different ways. Here is a pair by an unknown knitter with dark brown as the main color and white used as the contrasting color. White is used for stripes in the cuft as well as a band of pattern just above the cuff. The palm of the mitten is then patterned with vertien stripes and the back of the mitten with eight-petal roses. The patterned thumbs are knitted with a gusset. A project for those who want to tackle the classic patterns and thumb gusset.
