This toy is designed in a Waldorf style, it is easy to knit using simple techniques and minimal materials. The elephant can also be easily made into a rattle.

The pattern is available for instant download in English. Finished elephant is 8cm in height and 11cm long.

Skills required:
Cast on, knit stitch, knit 2 stitches together, inc (kfb), turn work, cast off, simple embroidery

Materials used:

  • About 25g of DK 8ply wool or cotton in body colour (grey)
  • 2.75mm knitting needles
  • A small amount of black embroidery thread for eyes
  • Darning needle for sewing the project together
  • Wool stuffing
  • Scissors

The body of the elephant is knitted in one piece and the ears are knitted separately and sewn on at the end.
