This top-down sock creates a garden of flowers down the leg and instep of the sock. Choose a single contrast color, a self-striping CC, or a collection of minis for this floral arrangement of stitches. Make a matching pair or reverse the CC color order for “fraternal twin” socks!
All my colorwork socks feature a solid cuff, toe, and heel, so you don’t ever have to purl any stitches in stranded knitting. The Eye of the Partridge (EOP) heel flap is both beautiful and hardy, creating a very dense slip-stitch fabric that will keep the fibers strong in this wear-prone area. A unique gusset on the sole adds a surprise pop of color that will delight your family or friends when you sit back and prop your feet up.

Color Suggestions
The best way to highlight the colorwork pattern is to choose an MC that has high contrast with each CC. Take a photo of your yarns using a black/white filter. The two yarns should look drastically different (i.e., one is very dark, and the other is very light). If using a speckled yarn, be sure that the speckles have just as much contrast and NO color overlap with the paired yarn. You only need two colors to knit this design, but I chose to use a set of light gradient mini skeins (CC) to pair with the dark MC. A self-striping CC (with high contrast to the MC in every stripe) is also a great way to play with color in this design, with fewer ends to weave in when the socks are off the needles.
