The Bjarne Slippers are low step-in felted slippers with a defined sole, shaped heel cap and structured step-in opening. They are worked seamlessly in one piece from the back of the heel to the tip of the toe.

SIZES
EU36–48 (13 sizes)
The pattern provides predefined sizes, with corresponding foot lengths to help you select the appropriate size. US/CA and UK size conversion tables are also included.

CONSTRUCTION
The construction begins with the shaped heel cap, designed to retain the heel while remaining below the ankle bone. Stitches are then picked up to establish the sole, and increases gradually develop the width of the heel and sole.

The slipper is worked back and forth toward the ankle, shaping the step-in opening, before the foot is joined and worked in the round toward the toe.

Two characteristic details provide both structure and definition:

  • A lateral braid worked with a crochet hook frames and stabilizes the step-in opening.
  • A crochet chain follows the recessed purl groove around the sole, emphasizing its shoe-like profile.

Both details can be worked in the main color or a contrasting color.

Finally, the slippers are felted in the washing machine and shaped while wet, creating a dense, self-supporting slipper while preserving the structural lines established during knitting.
