Tree Trunk Cardigan
FORM & FIT © TREE TRUNK CARDIGAN
The Tree Trunk Cardigan is a fitted cardigan worked in the Tree Trunk rib pattern with the characteristic Form & Fit © design curves that follows the contour of the body. A positive ease of 10-12 cm 4-4¾“ is recommended.
The cardigan is worked top down using European Shoulder Construction with an asymmetrical set-in sleeve, worked without subsequent seaming.
As you work the V-neck, the Form & Fit© shoulder, yoke and sleeve shaping gradually develops.
The body is worked in the round and later cut open using the steek method. Afterwards the button band is added. Afterthought buttonholes are applied, allowing you to choose the number and placement of buttons to your own liking.
The 1-by-1 ribbed cuff, hem and button band are framed with a lateral braid as a nice small detail which can be worked in a contrasting color.

SHAPING OPTIONS
The cardigan can be worked straight as written, or you can use the included Tailoring Fit Guides to explore additional shaping blending in with the tree trunk stitch pattern:
- Diamond Bust Darts — to add length to prevent the garment from riding up in the front
- Waist Shaping — to reduce ease and add definition at the waist and a balanced fuller bust with a smaller underbust.
- A-line Shaping — to add width to relive tension towards the hips.
Fit milestones throughout the pattern help you evaluate the fit as you knit.
