From an 1884 “Elegant Lace Patterns” book, this pattern was used for a girl’s stockings but it could be used for anything! I converted the in-the-round instructions to flat by adding purl rows between the “fancy” rows. To convert the pattern back to in-the-round, simply omit those purl rows. There are 8 pattern rows with only 3 “fancy” rows; the other 5 rows are either knit across or purl across. There’s a multiple of 8 stitches + 2 selvage stitches. Omit the selvage stitches if knitting in the round.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, SSK, k2tog, S2KP and bind off.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
