About this Pattern

This pillow case pattern is a wonderful handmade touch for your home or a gift. Side A is made using a faux cable stitch and Side B mirrors the spacing of Side A with a simple rib stitch. This pattern is worked flat using beginner techniques, which makes it perfect for new knitters or more experienced knitters who want a project where they can also chat or watch TV.

The two intertwining columns of the faux cable and the juxtaposition of the knit and purl columns of the rib side inspired thoughts of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. On one side, the two lovers going round and round; on the other side, the two warring families who have more in common than they realize. Both the play that inspired it and the pillow cover are romantic and utterly timeless.

Materials

  • 100g of Color A and 100g of Color B of worsted weight yarn My sample was knit using Loops and Thread Impeccable. But you can use a variety of worsted weight yarns, as long as you achieve gauge. I would recommend acrylic yarn for durability and easy care.

  • Tapestry or other large-eyed needle
