Sylvia Cap
About this Pattern
A perfect mixture of beanie and beret, the Sylvia Cap. This hat is a little bit sophisticated and a little bit relaxed. This hat was inspired by Sylvia Plath, and her poetry, specifically, “Full Fathom Five”.
This bottom-up hat looks great in any color and works in any wardrobe. It works up quickly in worsted weight yarn, and the small sections break up the body of the hat perfectly. You’ll be saying, “Just one more section!” until you have a completed hat.

- Size 7 (4.5 mm) 16” or 32”+ circular needles (if you want to use magic loop method), or size to achieve gauge
- Size 7 double pointed needles, or same size as circular needles (if using 16” circular needles)
- 1 stitch marker
- Tapestry or other large-eyed needle
A Note Regarding Yarn
All yarn measurements are for the finished products, with exact grams and 1-2m/yds added for flexibility. I use these exact measurements to encourage knitting from your stash or using repurposed yarn as much as possible. This amount does not include swatching.
