The Get it Twisted Project Purse was originally designed as a pattern to go along with the 2025 Kenya’s Knits Yarn Countdown Calendar, which is themed after Gilmore Girls season 2. However, making these was so fun that I decided to release this pattern early and include another secret pattern in the advent, along with this pre-release pattern!

This project is super quick and is designed to only take a 20g mini skein to complete. It’s also an amazing way to showcase variegated yarn!

The pattern is written to be worked with Fingering, Sport, DK, and Worsted weight. Each purse, regardless of which weight you used to work it up, can hold a 100g cake of all four weights. The purse is worked bottom up and is finished with a stretchy i-cord bind off and either a wrist or body strap.

It is meant to be an easy and portable way to hold your cake while you pull from the center, but some of my testers used smaller balls of yarn in their purses and chose to pull from the outside as well.

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) to be worked with Fingering (Sport, DK, Worsted) weights.

Suggested Yarn: Fingering (Sport, DK, Worsted) weight yarn, or yarn weight needed to obtain gauge.

This project is a great way to use up scraps and minis. For some additional flair, try a contrast bottom, i-cord bind off, or strap!

Fingering weight sample: Kenya’s Knits Snowdrift Select (75% Superwash Wool 21.5 mic / 25% Recycled Nylon) in the colorway He Started It!

Sport weight sample: Kenya’s Knits Latte (100% Baby Alpaca) in a one of a kind colorway.

DK weight sample: Kenya’s Knits Marshmallow DK Select (100% Fine Superwash Merino Wool 21.5 mic) in a one of a kind colorway.

Worsted weight sample: Kenya’s Knits Marshmallow Worsted Select (100% Superwash Wool 21.5 mic) in the colorway Squash Blossoms.

Yardage: 22 (15, 12, 11)yds/20 (14, 11, 10)m.

Gauge: 32 (32, 28 28) sts
4”/10cm in stockinette, worked in the round and blocked.

The row gauge is less important here because we’ll be working to a specific length.

Suggested Needles: US 1/2.25mm circular needles or DPNs, or needles needed to obtain gauge.

Materials: Stitch markers, spare needle/ scrap yarn to hold stitches and tapestry needle.

Techniques: You will need to know how to knit, knit through the back loop, purl, knit in the round, slip stitches, knit 2 together, and graft using Kitchener stitch.
