The Laurie Bonnet is worked flat, entirely in one piece with almost no finishing required. You’ll begin with one I-cord tie, shape the first side with increases, then go up and over the head, mirroring the shaping until you’re back down to the original stitch count to finish with the second tie. The I-cord ties become an easy-to-work I-cord edging that’s worked as you go, and the back of the neck is shaped with short rows. If you’re a new knitter this is a great project to expand your skills in an approachable way. Get creative with stripes, colour-blocking, or combining small scrap amounts to make the Laurie Bonnet your own.
