Leafy Ladybug Cowl : A luxurious leafy brioche cowl, knit using two-color brioche in motifs of twisting vines, little ladybugs, and leaves.
Yarn Notes:
Grab 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn in high contrasting colors! I chose yarns in shades of green and deep jewel tones to mimic vines and leaves crawling up an old wall. If you decide to substitute yarn, be sure to knit a gauge swatch to ensure you are happy with the fabric, the drape and at the pattern gauge. Please note that if you substitute yarn, finished size and yarn amounts will vary. You can easily modify your cowl by adding or omitting pattern repeats. I did use almost ALL of each color of my yarn!
Kits available through Knit ATX! See last photo of yarn in skein form here.
Skill level:
Intermediate. I developed this pattern specifically to learn the most popular brioche increases and decreases.
Techniques used:
Twisted German Cast On, knit, purl, brioche purl (brp), brioche knit (brk), sl1yo, brioche increases and decreases, knitting in the round, Elastic Bind Off.
Construction Notes:
This cowl is knit completely in the round from the top down, starting immediately with two-color brioche increases and decreases to create beautiful motifs resembling climbing vines and ladybugs, small leaves and ending with large monstera leaves as a gorgeous border.
The twists and turns in the stitch patterns and combination with the luxuriousness of this yarn makes this cowl an absolute delight to knit and wear! Throw it on easily over your favorite outfit to really dress it up, or even over your pajamas if you’re feeling chilly to add some luxury to your day. Double it up for those super cold days!
