The Mathilde Selbu Mittens have a cute ruffle along the cuff, and a floral pattern on the hand and the thumb. The pattern is both written and charted, and it is designed in accordance with the Norwegian Selbu mitten tradition. Several techniques are explained with photos, including a stitch-by-stitch for the start of the thumb.

Stitches used: k, p, m1l, m1r, k2tog, SSK, SK2P

Gauge:

Materials:
* Yarn: Wool yarn with ~175 m per 50 gr in two colours. Used in example is Rauma Finull.
Approx. usage: 8-10 years MC 40 gr and CC 20 gr, women MC 45 gr and CC 25 g

  • DPNs size 2.0 mm (or size needed to achieve gauge)
  • Scrap yarn or stitch holder for thumb stitches
  • Darning needle
