New Lanark Tammy by Jools Brown is a gorgeous Tammy knitted using chunky yarn. The Tammy can be knitted all in one colour or by using two complimentary colours. This modern take on a very traditional Tammy will be sure to receive many compliments when worn.

The Tammy is made using a rib stitch for the brim and a moss/seed stitch for the main, finished using a pom pom.

If you are using a contrasting design you will require 20g of yarn for the brim and 80g for the main and a further 10g of each shade for the pom pom. You will require a 3 inch pom pom maker and a darning needle. From two 100g skiens you will achieve two Tammy’s using the reverse of colours.

I use a 4mm UK knitting needle as this creates a thick robust fabric that is ideal for the Tammy. I would recommend New Lanark Chunky Yarn for this project.
