My daughter fell in love at first sight with ‘Spirited Away’. So I thought a ‘No Face’ would be fun and easy enough to create for her. A charming gift for any Studio Ghibli fan.

This pattern is for free because ‘No Face’ is not a character I created. Please do not resell the pattern or sell any you make. Studio Ghibli probably won’t like it.

(There are no guides for crochet techniques or embroidery in this pattern.)

Notes:
• ‘No Face’s’ body is worked in the round, amigurumi style. Slip stitches, half double crochets and working back over reverse single crochets are also used for shaping (I wanted to get his hunch right)
• His mask is crocheted separately, sewn on and then the features are embroidered on
• His arms are made from a black pipe-cleaner, which is inserted through his body and then wrapped in yarn
• A cardboard circle is used in the base to help keep its shape. You may also wish to weight it somehow

Materials:
• Black 8ply/DK acrylic yarn
• White 8ply/DK acrylic yarn
• Grey/mauve 8ply/DK acrylic or cotton yarn
• 2.5mm crochet hook
• Stitch marker
• Poly-fill stuffing
• Black pipe-cleaner
• Thick cardboard (for base)
