Pattern Notes

‘Ollie Cardigan’ is a cardigan with collar which is knitted top-down and composed of raglan increases along with short rows. After separating the sleeves, continue with the body, then work on the sleeves. Pick up stitches from the neck edging to knit the collar, and then finish by knitting the button band. If you wish to make a round neck cardigan instead of making the collar, you will be making the button band first before working on the neck band.
Ollie cardigan uses basic methods for making a top-down garment, but also includes various details making it an intermediate level pattern, hence, is recommended for those who have knit at least one piece of clothing. The pattern is composed of basic pattern chart, written explanation, and a bind-off video tutorial. Other tutorials such as german short row aren’t included in the pattern, so learn it in advance through other channels like youtube or books.
The original version used merino cotton yarn. Merino cotton is light and airy yet when knitted, it takes on just enough of a solid form suitable for outerwear like cardigans or jackets. It becomes smoother after being washed, making the outcome more satisfiable. If you use any other yarn that is airy and light weighted in contrast to it’s solid structure, you would be able to achieve a similar mood as the original piece. I hope you enjoy knitting this Ollie Cardigan.
