Pado Cardigan
“Pado Cardigan” is worked top-down with raglan increases. After casting on, raglan increases are worked until the sleeves are separated, then after sleeves separation, body and both sleeves are worked consecutively. I-cord is worked along the body and neck line, and more i-cord needs to be knit separately to make a ribbon to attach on the front. I-cord method is included as a tutorial video.
Pado cardigan has an easy-medium level difficulty, designed top down with lace patterns on the sleeves. Although it is not too difficult when following the instructions, I recommend it to people who have worked on at least one piece of garment since there is a pattern difference on the sleeves and body.
The pattern is written in both paragraph form and chart form. For those who are not familiar with the chart form, I have written up the pattern stitch by stitch until the sleeve separation point.
The original version is worked with Somsom Knit’s ‘Uh-poo’ yarn. ‘Uh-poo’ is a cotton based yarn with a cool and crispy texture, making it very suitable for knitting summer garments. If you work with yarn that includes cotton, linen, or viscose, you would achieve a similar texture with the original version.
I have made samples of both long/short sleeves versions, so follow the guidelines according to your desirable length of the sleeves. Enjoy your summer knitting Pado Cardigan
