“Suburb cardigan” is a drop shoulder style top-down cardigan. The whole process except the sleeves part is carried out in stockinette stitch. It starts knitting from the back, working on both fronts, joining the front and back, and finally working on the body and the sleeves.

This is a written instruction including a video how to bind off the stitches in wavy shape. (The video is in Korean, but you would be able to understand the process simply by watching it!) Please note, there won’t be an additional video or explanation for the techniques such as German Short Row, so I recommend you to train yourself for that in advance.

Suburb cardigan has four different sizes. You can choose the bust size between 92 cm ~ 122 cm with 5-10cm of positive ease recommend. The length of the cardigan is designed to be cropped, but as it is a top-down design, you can stick to your own favored length.

The original work was made with feather yarn, but if you want a tighter and more solid resulting fabric, you can calculate the gauge and work in a size you want.

The level of difficulty is intermediate low. You only need the basic techniques for top-down cardigan, so if you already have worked on clothes at least once, or if you know how to pick up your stitches, you’ll be able to knit this adorable summer cardigan.

‘써버브 가디건’은 위에서부터 떠내려가는 탑다운 방식의 드롭숄더 가디건입니다. 소매를 제외한 모든 과정을 평면뜨기로 진행하며, 등판을 뜨고 코를 주워 앞판을 뜬 뒤에 소매분리를 하고 몸통을 쭉 떠내려가는 방식으로 뜨게 됩니다.

도안은 서술형으로 이루어져 있으며, 마무리를 할 때에 물결 모양으로 코 마무리를 하는 방법이 영상으로 첨부되어 있습니다. 이 외에 필요한 경사뜨기 (German Short Row) 등의 기법은 따로 영상이나 설명이 첨부되어 있지 않으므로 인터넷이나 책 등에서 미리 숙지하시기 바랍니다.

도안은 4가지 사이즈로 구성되어 있습니다. 가슴둘레는 92cm부터 122cm까지 중에 선택하실 수 있습니다. 기장은 크롭하게 뜨도록 설정하였지만, 탑다운 도안인 만큼 원하시는 기장까지 뜨셔도 무방합니다.
원작은 깃털사로 작업하여 성글게 떴으나, 좀더 촘촘하고 탄탄한 편물을 원하신다면 게이지를 계산하셔서 원하시는 사이즈로 작업하셔도 좋습니다.

써버브 가디건의 난이도는 중하급입니다. 탑다운 가디건에 사용되는 기본적인 기법만을 사용해 작업하였기 때문에 의류를 한 번이라도 작업하신 분, 코 줍기를 할 줄 아시는 분들께서는 어렵지 않게 뜨실 수 있을 거예요.
