★ A knitting classic, done my crochet way

This hat is inspired by the Quilted Lattice Stitch, a wonderful knit stitch from Barbara Walker’s famous book, A Treasury of Knitting. Crocheters have been wanting to mimic stitches like this for years, so I worked it out in my own crochet way.

The lattice strand is carried along the front of the fabric, giving the hat a rich, woven texture. Top it with a fluffy fur pompom and it’s ready for cold weather.

✨ What makes it work

• Knit-inspired texture. A classic knitting stitch translated into crochet.
• Two balls, one hat. One strand is carried along the front to build the lattice.
• Stretchy brim. Fits most adult heads.
• You’re not on your own. Video tutorial and written pattern included.

✂️ What you’ll need

• Yarn: Rios, Malabrigo (worsted weight), approx. 300 yds. Color shown: Pearl. Worked from two balls.
• Love a swap? Supermerino, Artyarns · 220 Superwash, Cascade Yarns
• Hook: H (5.0mm)
• Tools: Yarn Needle · Scissors
• To finish like the sample: Fur Pompom (tutorial on the blog)

• Size: Adult, brim stretches to fit 19” to 23” heads.
• Skill level: Advanced Beginner
• Gauge: 20 sts and 30 rows = 4” x 4” in single crochet through the back loop · gauge help
