S.A.B.L.E if your stash is at this point then you know what this means.

If you don’t it means “Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy”.

This pattern is the perfect way to use up some stash or enable you if you wanted an excuse to pick up a new skein of yarn.

A little while ago I saw these yarns on KnitPicks and was intrigued by them and promptly added an assortment to my stash. I really like how this yarn feels as I knit and it washes and wears beautifully.

I know that I have a lot of worsted in my stash and can see knitting more of these in many different yarns that have been waiting for their turn to be on the needles.

This is a quick and fun design that you can knit up in an afternoon. Perfect for gifts!

In a bigger hurry? Have a look at the bulky/chunky version of this cowl :

Beginners will love how easy this bandana style is and so quick. More advanced knitters will love the classic simplicity and using up some stash. Win win.

There are two sizes to choose from, one just a bit deeper than the other.

Best part? It only takes one skein of this yarn. (The yarn only looks and feels expensive) I like that part too!

Measurements: After gentle blocking: Neck opening on both sizes is 22”/ 56 cm. Smaller cowl from midpoint of long side to tip is 13”/ 33 cm and 2 3/4” / 7 cm at back of neck. Larger cowl from midpoint of long side to tip is 15”/ 38 cm and 4”/ 10 cm at back of neck. (Measurements are approximate).

Gauge: Before blocking: 19 stitches x 24 rows = 4”/10 cm. Gauge is not critical but can affect finished size and yardage required.
