Seesaw Dress is a summer sleeveless knitted dress.
It’s designed with a V-neck, wide straps (perfect for covering bra straps), an A-line silhouette and a mix of Garter stitch on the yoke and Wave pattern on the bottom of the dress.
All increases for the bottom part are incorporated into the pattern repeat, allowing you to easily adjust the length – whether you prefer a tunic, short or knee-length dress.
Seesaw dress is great for in-city or vacay summer outfit.

Seesaw Dress is one more piece added to Seesaw patterns family, included Seesaw Top, Seesaw Sweater and Seesaw Cowl as well.

Seesaw dress is worked top down and seamlessly. Start by working the right and left back shoulders separately, shaping the neckline and joining both shoulders together. Continue working in Garter stitch to the underarms, shaping armholes with increases. Once the back yoke is ready, back yoke stitches are placed on hold. Left and right front shoulders are picked up separately while the V-neck is shaped with increases. Once the neckline is ready, both fronts are joined together and continued working in Garter stitch to the underarms. After, back and front yokes are joined together and worked in the round. Body is continued working first in Garter stitch after switching to Wave pattern, incorporating increases as you go until dress reaches the desired length.
The last touch – finish neckline and armholes with I-cord edges for a more polished look.
This pattern doesn’t include any charts, it’s all written row-by- row.

Note about dress fit
For comfortable fit the dress should have 20 – 50 cm / 8 – 19.75’’ of positive ease around hips circumferences (measured after section 7 or lower). If you have a big difference between bust and hips circumferences, it’s suggested to go 1-2 needle sizes up when working the Wave pattern.

Needles
Circular 3.75 mm (US 5) 80-100 cm (32-40)’’ long for main part and i-cord;
Optionally – circular size 4 mm (US 6) or size 4.5 mm (US 7) 100 cm (40)’’ long for Wave pattern (if needed).
Or needle size needed to obtain the required gauge.
Notions: tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers, scrap yarn or stitch holders.

Original yarn
Approx 7 (8, 9, 10, 11, 11, 12) balls / 350 (400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650) g of Isager Bomulin (65% cotton, 35% linen; 50g / 1.8oz, 210 m / 230 yds, color 23 Light Dusty Green) worked double stranded.
Yardage: approx 1450 (1600, 1800, 2000, 2250, 2450, 2600) m / 1585 (1750, 1968, 2187, 2460, 2680, 2843) yds of similar fingering weight worked double stranded OR
approx 725 (800, 900, 1000, 1125, 1225, 1300) m / 793 (875, 984, 1094, 1230, 1340, 1422) yds of heavy dk/ worsted weight yarn worked single stranded.
For longer dress you need more yarn than estimated.
Suggested yarn: fingering weight yarn worked double stranded or heavy dk /worsted weight yarn worked single stranded to obtain the required gauge.

Gauge
20 sts x 34 rnds = 10 cm (4’’) in Garter stitch in the rnd and back and forth in rows after blocking.
20 sts x 24 rnds = 10 cm (4’’) in Wave pattern in the rnd after blocking.
Take time to check your gauge before starting your project.
If you can’t obtain stitch and row gauge at the same time – it’s more important to obtain stitch gauge and the row gauge (length) can be adjusted according to the measurements in cm/inches.

Techniques used: Long tail cast on, Garter stitch in the round and back and forth in rows, M1R and M1L increases, k2tog and ssk decreases, yarn over, knit through the back loop, pick up stitches, i-cord bind off in the round.
