The Soufflé skirt is a low rise ruffle skirt. Featuring two staggered layers of ruffles, a side zipper that is embedded in a double knitted zipper pocket. This pattern uses adaptive math to ensure a custom fit regardless of your gauge or body measurements.

This is an intermediate to advanced knit, and it is worked sideways. First, a zipper pocket is created using a provisional cast on and double knitting. The main body of Layer 1 is then worked flat, with twisted German Short Row ruffles shaped simultaneously on the wrong side throughout. Hip darts are shaped using increases and decreases at the bottom edge.

Once Layer 1 is complete, Layer 2 stitches are picked up along the middle of Layer 1 and joined to the main garment one stitch at a time using attached knitting (perpendicular join). Ruffles are worked in the same frequency as Layer 1. The garment is then blocked and shaped, with particular attention to the ruffles.

After blocking, the provisional cast on is then removed and both layers are joined in the round by grafting. The zipper is attached to the zipper pocket at the very end.
