This project features a variety of tunisian crochet stitches in a fun sampler scarf. Working up to about 6.5’ x 6” in worsted weight, it can easily be adapted for other weights. Discussion is given in the pattern regarding making adjustments for heavier and lighter weights of yarn, as well as ways to increase width and length if desired.

Designed to show off the interesting textures, this scarf looks great in hand-dyed yarns with subtle color combinations and solid color yarns; variegated and high-contrast color changes tend to detract from the stitch definition. Sample in photos is show in Malabrigo Rios color 280 “Gemini.”

You will need to know tunisian simple stitch (tss), tss2tog, tunisian knit stitch (tks), tunisian purl stitch (tps), tunisian full stitch (tfs), and tunisian reverse stitch (trs) to make this project.

Gauge is not of particular importance to the function of the finished piece, however, if significantly tighter or looser gauge is used than specified, it may affect the amount of yarn needed and the finished dimensions. (So for instance, if this is crocheted very tightly, even after blocking you will probably end up with a pretty narrow scarf that doesn’t reach the 6” width given in the pattern.)

This project requires about a skein and a half of Malabrigo Rios (or similar yardage of another worsted yarn). You’ll have about 100 yds left if you use Malabrigo (give or take, depending on tension), which is enough to make a matching headband/ear warmer. (I recommend my coordinating Treasure Trove Ear Warmer pattern, available separately or as a bundle with this pattern at a reduced price—see my Ravelry Store.)
