This is a written crochet pattern for the “Turtle Marble Maze”- a flat circular marble maze, which can be used as a puzzle, and/or for stimming (fidgeting) silently with. The marble can be moved around the maze in the shell of the turtle, as well enter and move around the head. (If you would like to see an example of the marble moving around there is a video on my instagram account, and/or on the Etsy listing).

The pattern is available in both US and UK terms. The PDF file is 14 pages long with detailed instructions and lots of photos. In addition to Ravelry, this pattern is also available on my Etsy store to purchase.

This pattern is suitable for crocheters that are already familiar with basic crochet stitches/techniques (e.g ch, sc, hdc, dc, inc, sc-ing pieces together, sewing pieces together etc). In addition, you will also need be familiar (or able to become quickly comfortable) with two slightly more advanced stitches techniques: hdc2tog and slst surface crochet. Photo tutorials are provided for both the hdc2tog stitch, and the slst surface crochet stitch.

The shell and flippers are worked in joined rounds. The tail is worked in continuous rounds. The head is worked in rows.

Materials & Tools Required:
• Yarn in colours light brown, dark brown and green. All in DK weight, or a similar weight that you can meet the required gauge with (gauge swatch details are included in the pattern).
• A crochet hook (that you are able to meet the required gauge with. I used 3mm).
•A small amount of black yarn/thread for embroidering eyes and mouth
•One small marble (approx. 1.5cm in diameter). Please note that marbles are a choking hazard (particularly to young children).
•Scissors
•Tapestry/finishing needle
•Stitch markers (recommended)
•Pins to help with assembly/sewing (optional)

Gauge swatch details are included in the pattern to help with sizing. Using a 3mm hook and DK weight yarn my finished turtle measured roughly 19cm from the top of the head to the end of the tail. The shell when measured by itself was roughly 12cm in diameter.
