About
“Vela” derives from Latin, meaning sails—a quiet nod to movement, lightness, and the way fabric can catch and flow like wind-filled cloth. This idea is echoed throughout the design: a feminine blouse featuring a delicate lace panel centered on both front and back, complemented by a subtle eyelet pattern along the sleeves that mirrors the main motif.
The softly flared trumpet sleeves enhance this sense of motion, allowing the arms to move with an almost sail-like fluidity. Paired with a clean boat neck and an airy, gently draping silhouette, the Vela Blouse feels both light and refined.
Construction begins with the upper back worked flat. Stitches are then picked up along the shoulders, with additional stitches cast on for the neckline. Short rows shape the neck before the upper front is worked flat as well. The body is then joined in the round. Sleeves are picked up around the armholes and shaped with increases, and finally, stitches are picked up along the neckline to finish it with a simple stockinette edge.
