NEW: This pattern now comes with an added interactive version in the Briana K app.

You still get the printable PDF you know and love. In the app, you can also check off every row as you work, so your place is saved when life interrupts, and plot your color changes visually before you buy the yarn.

The Wheat Stitch Witch Hat is a tall, textured witch hat that stands up on its own, worked in one piece from the point down with no seams to sew. It comes in eight sizes, from Newborn all the way up to Adult Large, so everyone in the house can match on Halloween night.

That braided texture is the Wheat Stitch: two rounds of back loop single crochet, then two rounds of puff stitches, joined and turned every round. The pattern calls for a hook one to two sizes smaller than the ball band on purpose, so the fabric is firm enough for the cone to hold its point. The last round is worked over a ring of nylon memory wire (Newborn through Child) or drip tubing (Teen and Adult), so you can bend the brim into any shape you like and it stays put, even after a trip through the wash.

Dress it up with jute twine, moss, and a little cluster of mushrooms like the samples, or leave it plain black for classic trick-or-treating.

A video tutorial is included.
