With just 5 days til Valentine’s Day, I woke up on Monday morning with a brilliant gift idea for my husband. That idea evolved into this pattern.

This past Christmas my husband gifted me one ball of vicuña yarn, thinking that I would make a fancy version of my Birthday Wish Scarf with it. Instead, I used that gift to make him a cowl, which is now part of the White Elephant Collection; the original White Elephant Hat and White Elephant Mittens.

The White Elephant Cowl is a beginner friendly project and it’s also a quick knit. Using just one ball of 25g cashmere or vicuña for the smaller version, it is also a great project to use the precious yarn that is heavenly soft next to skin.

Whether you plan to make this for your knit-worthy person or for yourself, I hope you will enjoy the process of making this beautiful timeless accessory.
