Knitting: Cardigan
I’m so excited to be releasing a pattern using my new yarn, Coquina DK. The combination of Merino and Cotton has many wonderful qualities and is perfect for this lightweight sweater. The addition of the lacy flowers not only enhances the fabric, it creates beautiful lines within the design. There is added ease in the Shoulders and Sleeves to al...

KittyBea, by the Sea is a new Collection of coastal inspired colorways and patterns. Inspiration is taken from scenic beaches, coastal landmarks, and local wildlife- including gorgeous shells found whilst beachcombing. The first location of inspiration is (naturally): Florida!

I’m very excited to be releasing my first KittyBean pattern and bonus: it uses my first KittyBean yarn, Boca. I created KittyBean out of necessity. I had very good friends with due dates within a month of each other and needed cute knitwear patterns for gifts. When I found Boca, I instantly fell in love with its super soft, smooth texture. Its ...

With the launch of KittyBea, by the Sea: Largo DK, I wanted to create a pattern that would be perfect beach knitting, while taking advantage of the unique blend of fibers. Simple lace with this alpaca, silk and linen yarn, helps create a lighter-than-air fabric with wonderful drape. You can also choose a more solid spun yarn (even with some woo...

One of my favorite things about visiting different yarn shops, is finding new yarns that provide instant inspiration. That is exactly what happened when I found Daisy at Knit or Knot Yarns in Jupiter, FL. I’m a sucker for anything linen and Daisy’s blend of linen, silk, and hemp was an exciting discovery for me. I was swatching and casting on i...

Knitting: Pullover
After the success of my Reid Cardigan, a pullover version was suggested. I wanted this new design to be the same… but different. Reid Pullover has the same drape and flattering shape, with a slightly fuller fit (for layering), updated details, and a full-length sleeve. This has quickly become one of my favorite styles to wear. Its cozy, like yo...

Knitting: Cardigan
There are two versions included with this pattern, Cardigan and Coat. The Cardigan is straight and hits at high hip. The Coat has increases that start at the waist and lands at low hip or lower, depending on height. The sleeve length for the Cardigan is 3/4 sleeve and the Coat has a full sleeve. This design (especially, the Coat) fits and wears...
Knitting: Cardigan
After the positive response of my ladies’ version, Reid Cardigan, I was encouraged to create a girls’ pattern. This pattern was especially perfect to emulate for girls, because of its slight A-line shape. The shape adds a little flair and what we really love: it works well over skirts and dresses! The yarn used for the pattern is soft with a lo...

Rowan’s Cashmere Tweed yarn is lofty and light all on its own. When you add KidSilk Haze, you have a most wonderful fabric. After swatching and blocking the swatch, I was immediately impressed by how light the fabric felt. It doesn’t require complicated stitches to shine, just a bit of interest. I’ve chosen a traveling stitch pattern and twiste...

Booker Pullover uses two Shibui yarns, Tweed Silk Cloud and Cima. One of my favorite things about Shibui is the amazing versatility. Shibui encourages combining their various bases to create different fabrics. I held TSC with Cima in the opaque stripes and for the trim/edges. You could also use Shibui’s Lunar in place of Cima, a perfect example...

This is the first pattern I’ve written, utilizing one of my own hand-dyed yarns from my brand, KittyBea Knitting. The KittyBea Largo yarn that is specified in this design, is a lovely blend of Baby Alpaca, Silk, and Linen provides a soft and smooth texture. When held with a Silk/Mohair yarn, it truly creates a gorgeous fabric. Silk/Mohair blend...

In previous versions of this pattern, I used the terms, Shawlette & Shawl for sizing. The Shawlette is now Small, the Shawl is now Medium and Large is the NEW size.

If you like the look of colorwork, but aren’t keen on charts and fair isle knitting, this is the pattern for you! Thanks to slipped stitches, you can achieve the same aesthetic as if you carried two colors at once. There is no chart for this pattern, because it really isn’t necessary. The simple six row repeat does all the work. Arbor is a wond...

Knitting: Pullover
This design started when the owner of A Good Yarn Sarasota, Susan, asked me to create a pattern using WalkCollection’s single ply wool and mohair silk yarns. I sketched first, knowing I wanted an Audrey Hepburn vibe. The addition of the wedges at the hip adds ease and creates a flattering silhouette.

I received some very positive feedback about my pattern, Donna Linen Tee/Pullover. Knitters enjoy the changing stitch patterns and the simplicity of the written instructions. I decided soon after that I would like to a version with less ease in the silhouette and length, but keep the idea of rotating a few different stitch patterns. The Dropped...

Although I loved my first version of Roberts made with Shibui Reed, I knew this new sample would also be a quick favorite. I used my new KittyBea, by the Sea Caspersen, an organic cotton and linen blend yarn. This hand-dyed yarn has a soft and even feel, with some structure. The finished garment is truly something special. It keeps intact both ...
