Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Tittygaga is a completely made up, but fun word. I thought it matched this whimsical design of round motifs that are inspired by our boobs. This design is rhythmic and easy to memorize which makes for an entertaining knit. The ribbing makes for a great fitting sock.

The DK yarn and loads of texture make these socks so squishy and fun to wear. The deep, dark blue of Njord needed bold motifs to show up the stitch pattern.

I grabbed this great Botanical Fibre sock set at Fiddlehead Fibre Festival in April and wanted to play with this high contrast combination and a non superwash, recycled nylon content yarn. The geometric slipped stitch pattern on the leg is fun to do, which you know is my favourite. There is a simple cable technique that moves the slipped stitch...

We have gone back to the beach for the inspiration for this sock. I love to visit the Dunes in Bouctouche with its boardwalk and beautiful beach. The boardwalk is 800 metres long and protects the fragile dunes and grasses below it.

Swiss Dot fabric always makes me think of summer…fun, floaty material, blowing in the breeze. Shortie socks and the fun dots are the perfect summer knit! The dots are simple wrapped stitches that sit perfectly between contrast purl bands and it is an addictive “one more round” kind of pattern.

We are off to Knit City Montreal and this sock was knit to pay homage to the iconic and plentiful construction cones that appear in Montreal this time of year. The pattern also shows off the fun Sock Marl base from Yarn Indulgences that has been dyed in vibrant orange and pink.

These socks are inspired by one of my favourite TV shows: The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Season 5 releases April 14, 2023.

The Hexie Diamond socks feature a lovely slipped-stitch cable pattern. It may look complicated but is surprisingly easy and intuitive to knit.

Winter is not my favourite season, but there are magical days that are just perfect. The snow is sparkly on the trees and underfoot. The sky seems a more intense blue than in summer. The stitch pattern evokes the pine trees and the walking trails that I love to walk and listen to the birds singing as my boots crunch over the snow.

It’s time to stay home and get cozy! Or it’s time to welcome family and friends into our homes. No matter what the activity, I always need to have an intuitive but engaging sock on my needles to keep me happy and calm. This 6 round repeat … and only 2 are patterned … give me enough plain knitting to enjoy the beautiful yarn and a little somethi...

The combination of DK yarns, slip stitches and loads of texture make these socks so squishy and fun to wear. I loved the play of the bright coral Emily colourway with the deep and moody Steel Teal and the slip stitches and changing colours help the socks fly off the needles. They also knit up very quickly and will be perfect for gift knitting t...

Summer in Atlantic Canada means beautiful flowers in gardens and along the roads. The inspiring colours in this new yarn from Yarn Indulgences (Reflection colourway) made me think of summer blooms against a weathered split rail fence. Foxgloves, hydrangeas, snapdragons, sweet peas and cosmos dancing in the summer breeze.

The Spark yarn from Gingersnap was the inspiration for this pattern and it reminded me of a favourite oldies song by the Platters “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes“. It doesn’t matter where I sit around a campfire, the smoke always gets in my eyes. There is nothing better than a summer day spent at the beach and an evening in front of a campfire.

The vertical and horizontal lines on the front of these socks are inspired by the planks and handrails of the boardwalk over the Bouctouche Dunes, in New Brunswick, Canada. 800 metres of a meandering wooden pathway that takes you over the fragile dunes and grasses. It leads you to a beautiful beach looking out into the Northumberland Strait and...

The inspiration for this sock was born one day at the shore. Watching the waves rolling up on the beach and the undulating dunes at my back. I wanted to see how the yarn moved and played across the front of the sock.
