’Tuck stitches’ is the collective term for stitches that consist of several thread loops. The best known variant is the brioche stitch, in which the thread is laid over an existing stitch. If you repeat this process more often, i.e. put threads over a stitch several times before knitting them, you will get interesting effects which will expand your knitting repertoire considerably. It is an easy way to create exciting patterns with one or two colors.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Spring Basket is a small shawl with a continuous mosaic pattern, worked from side to side.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The name says it all: Momomi stands for modular mosaic mix. The shawl can be knitted in two different sizes. It consists of five individual pieces (three in the small version), which are either connected with three needle bind off or continued directly by picking up stitches. The individual parts and the different patterns ensure that you won’t...
Knitting: Scarf
Sometimes you need a scarf, even on hot summer nights. And if only as a decorative accessory. This one is a combination of tuck stitches and dropped stitches, which ensure an airy appearance. The strictly symmetrical pattern is loosened up by two sections with short rows. One of the two yarns should definitely have a color gradient so that the ...

I hate women’s dress sizes. Really! Because those ridiculous numbers don’t take actual physique into account. Are shoulders and hips wide or narrow? Are your arms strong or thin? The breasts small or large? How is all of this supposed to be represented with a single number? Frustration is inevitable.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The slightly three-dimensional structural pattern of this triangular shawl has one task: putting a particularly beautiful yarn in the spotlight. It works best if the yarn is monochrome or shows only slightly different color shades. And if it additionally has a silky glow, that can’t hurt either. Alternatively, a gradient bobble is also conceiva...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The Kringelding (loosely translated as Ring Thing) is a triangular scarf with a continuous, large-area mosaic pattern that is easy to remember. It would work well with a gradient yarn; here, however, different yarns in different color shades were selected. Advantage: You can easily use leftovers because you only need small amounts of some of th...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Karovario’ is a great way to get rid of three skeins in your abundant stash, provided the three colors make a good contrast. The asymmetric triangle is worked side to side. Larger areas with stripes alternate with different slipped stitch patterns, all a variation of check patterns. In order for these to be prominent, your yarn should be solid...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
As a child, when we were on vacation in Italy, I was always amazed at how a road could lead in “all directions”. This and the ice cream, those were the real miracles. Because in Germany, at that time, (at least in the countryside) there was neither the melting bliss nor this geographical magic. Why there could be different directions for all d...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
No excitement here – this triangular shawl is something for more relaxed knitting hours. The recurring mosaic pattern is framed by garter stitch areas. Your personal touch is created by the choice of colors: you can use two, three or four colors for the mosaic sections, just as you wish. This means, of course, that it is a good option to get ri...

’Pretty Nutty’ is a slightly asymmetric, triangular shawl, worked from side to side. A variety of pattern sections, each symbolizing different types of nuts, ensure that you won’t get bored while knitting it. To show them off properly, you should use solid colors and a yarn weight between sport and fingering (about 300-420 meters per 100 grams)...

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Of course, it is possible to knit the crescent-shaped Fall Companion simply in two solid colors. But it develops its full appeal when you bring one of those gradient cakes into play. Since they are often just a little bit too short in yardage for a full grown shawl, I did a little trick here: I picked up the colors from the beginning and the en...

Slipped stitches can make interesting effects, even if they are not part of a mosaic pattern. ‘Silberstreif’(Silver Lining) is a conventional top-down triangular shawl. It starts with a repeating sequence of dots and ends in a wide border, formed by a combination of slipped stitches and cables.

Knitting: Scarf
‘Diamond Band‘ is a scarf that uses two techniques: two-color brioche and double knitting. That makes it wearable on both sides. The double knitting surfaces are, like the brioche diamonds, each worked with one color per row, which greatly simplifies handling. It is definitely not a scarf for beginners! But for someone who is already familiar w...
Knitting: Scarf
A few lines that keep repeating – and you’ll get a scarf with a continuous, all-over mosaic pattern. Of course, you might want to knit it with two contrasting monochrome yarns, but for a real wow effect, I recommend choosing at least one gradient yarn. As for the yarn weight: The thicker the yarn, the more noticable is the pattern. You should u...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Quiet Flow’ is a rectangular wrap with a simple pattern made of tuck stitches and garter stitches. As the pattern repeats continuously, knitting quickly creates a meditative calm. This could be too monotonous, therefore I strongly recommend to choose a gradient yarn as background color.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
“Farbtupfer” (“Splash of Color”) is a large, semicircular shawl that makes a great substitute for a cardigan in spring or autumn. It starts with a sequence of syncopated two-color stockinette brioche, followed by some stripes with tuck stitches. The finishing border is a wide zigzag band, interrupted by eyelet rows.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I designed the ‘Travelmate’ as a companion for extended train rides. I wanted something that wouldn’t be as boring as garter stitch all over, yet simple; something that wouldn’t require too much attention and could be put aside at any time. The choice fell on a simple slip stitch pattern which achieves an optical weave effect, embedded in a gar...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Lampionparade’ (’Lantern Parade’) is a regular triangular shawl, worked from bottom to top in two-color brioche. For the edges, the color sequence is reversed (“syncopated brioche”). Although the pattern is quite catchy and repetitive, it requires some attention because of the many increases and decreases. Therefore I wouldn’t recommend it to ...

’Spring Lace’ is an airy scarf with a simple lace panel, framed by a flower border. To achieve that lightness, yarn weight should be between lace and light fingering (from 600 to 800 m / 100 g). There are no restrictions on the yarn quality. From pure wool to silk, mohair, yak or blends (like silk mohair), anything is possible. Also, the scarf ...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Rainbirds’ got its name by an Instagram follower. In her opinion, the little bows look like a flock of migratory birds, and the big moss stitch reminded her of raindrops. The triangular shawl is worked bottom-up and framed by a cable edge. At the beginning, some attention is required. But as soon as the bow strip is established, the pattern re...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Kontrastprogramm’ (sorry, there is no good translation) is a slightly irregular triangular shawl, worked from side to side. Stockinette sections alternate with with pattern strips, using slipped stitches and tuck stitches (don’t worry if you never heard of those, they are easy). The monochrome gradient invites you to make your own color experi...

Auxo is one of the Horae in Greek mythology. As a summer goddess, she represents growth, but also stands for waiting (for the harvest) and for patience. Therefore, she is almost predestined as namesake for this shawl. It is crescent-shaped and grows quickly in width without gaining much height. After all, it’s more like a scarf to wear.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Starlets and Stripes’ is an asymmetrical triangular shawl, worked from side to side. Its creation is owed to the fact that it is impossible for me to pass gradient yarn cakes, without taking one home with me. The latest object of desire, however, had a somewhat short yardage. Of course, the obvious solution to that dilemma was to buy even more...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Blaue Stunde’ (’Blue Hour’) is a semi-circular shawl, worked top-down in two-color brioche, occasionally interrupted by garter stitch rows. It’s hardly a challenge for experienced brioche knitters, since there is almost no stitch pattern apart from a few cables. Primarily, the effect is achieved through the interplay of colors. There are no l...

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
‘Floral Arrangement’ is a semi-oval shawl that combines different lace patterns with floral motifs. Since it contains some unusual stitches, this is for advanced knitters (or very courageous ones) who are in the mood for a project that offers some variety.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
‚Solid Indecision‘ is a semicircular shawl, that is worked from side to side, using short rows. The resulting garter stitch wedges are separated by eyelet rows. These can be worked in yet another contrasting color (as in the small version) or by varying the order of the colors chosen (as in the large version).
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
‚Snail Trail‘ is an asymmetrical shawl which is shaped by increases on one side. In the original size it is more of a shawlette than a wrap but it can easily be enlarged. Due to the curved upper edge, it nestles particularly nicely around the neck and does not slip so easily. The pattern can be adapted to different yarn lengths as each of the s...

The ‚Parallel Slalom‘ (which came into being during the Winter Olympics) takes place on a semicircular shawl. The vertical zigzag lines move from top to bottom ever further apart and finally culminate in a jagged edge. Most suitable is lace-weight yarn, running between 500 and 800 meters per 100 grams.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
If you like chevrons but look for a slightly different take, this is a pattern for you: The ‘Zebrapunk’ is a wrap (or a wide scarf) in a wave pattern that appears irregular (but it really isn’t). The underlying pattern sequence is relatively simple. The optical movement results on the one hand from shifting the stitch pattern every few rows and...

The ‘Aeronaut’ is another manifestation of my continuing fascination with the combination of brioche and double knitting. The movement in the texture is created without any increase or decrease, by a simple cable.

I assume, you are familiar with the following scenario: You spontaneously buy this beautiful, variegated strand of yarn. Afterwards, you realize that you can not do anything with one single strand. That’s how I felt, planning this shawl. Finally, my solution was to pick up the different colors from this strand and create different mosaic patter...

’Double Trouble’ is a scarf that uses two techniques: two-color brioche and double knitting. In this way it is wearable on both sides. The doubleface surfaces are worked like the brioche ones with one color per row, which greatly simplifies handling. For someone who is already familiar with two-color brioche, the scarf is not difficult to knit;...

Stripes? Triangles? Zigzag? It almost looks like ‘A Touch of Magic’ when front and back of this scarf present themselves differently. In fact, only the placement of the third color is responsible for the different appearance. The waves are created by a mixture of brioche and doubleface. The latter is not worked as usual but with slipped stitche...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Originally, I planned this rectangular wrap as a collection of samples for a mosaic workshop at a local yarn store. Therefore, the basic idea is creating a scarf or wrap from some kind of construction kit: You can make it your own by deciding on length, width, stitch patterns, and pattern sequence. The “construction kit” contains seven differen...

“Moth Cloth” is a simple asymmetrical triangular shawl, worked from side to side. It is divided into three segments. Each segment incorporates holes which become larger from one section to the next.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Berry Pi’ is a semicircular shawl, featuring a mix of lace stitches, separated by rows of stockinette and slipped stitches. The size of the shawl can vary widely, depending on yarn and needle size.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I called this pattern „Wunderwellen“ („wonder waves“) because it shows completely different results, depending on the yarn you use. My initial intention was to create a pattern for self-striping yarns that leads to scarf with horizotal waves all over it. And I wanted it to be reversible – I just like that better in scarves.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Concertina’ (= little accordion) is a semicircular shawl, consisting of (a lot of) knit stitches and a few purls. Those are arranged in such a way that the result are pleating folds which expand continuously. The pattern is very simple, and even suitable for beginners. However, you need some patience, because the folds require many stitches. T...

’Greenkeeper’ is an asymmetric triangle. Knitting starts at the right tip. The design alternates between longitudinal ribs in stockinette and garter stitch and segments of different lace patterns. Those are without exception simple sequences, consisting of few repetitions. Therefore, the shawl may be a nice starting point for lace beginners who...

Knitting: Poncho

’Wellenreiter’ (’wave rider’) is an asymmetrical triangular shawl, worked in garter stitch, from side to side. The waves result from German short rows (but you are free to use another technique). The shell shapes at the edge are formed by increases and decreases.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
’Fire in the Sky’ is a triangular shawl, worked bottom-up in two-color brioche, combined with cables. The body is surrounded by an I-cord, a small border, worked in the round, and a second I-cord.

„Rippchen“ („little ribs“) is more like a wrap or cape than a shawl. Its shape is three quarters of a square. That makes a surface that is large enough to wear it as a substitute for a cardigan without

Briocheoholic is a regular triangle shawl. It’s knitted top down while changing knitting directions a few times. The pattern consists of simple brioche rows and garter stitch rows. The latter are also the signal to alternate background color and foreground color. Of course, you might get creative with your own color mix. The shawl is framed by ...

Actually, there is a triple jubilee: This shawl makes my 100th blog post, accidentally also my 100th Ravelry project and at the same time, I’m getting close to 2.000 followers on Instagram. So, instead of throwing a virtual party (how sad would it be to serve virtual drinks!) I decided to give you the pattern for that shawl.

’Schmetterlingsnetz’ (’butterfly net’) is a symmetric triangular shawl. Knitting starts at the top center. The net pattern is interrupted by rows of butterflies. The border combines butterflies, slipped stitches and two flower patterns.

Thank you again, for liking the shawl so much even before the pattern was online. I’m looking forward to see how it looks in different colors.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
