Dutch Knitting Design

Marleen van der Vorst is full-time designer and pattern writer. She lives with husband, 3 children (9, 7 and 4 years old) and Belgium sheppard in Helmond, the Netherlands.

She started designing in 2005 and sold her designs as knitting kits in The Netherlands. In 2007 she started writing her patterns in English and took a dive in the world of internet. With help of a friend she made a website to sell her patterns on line.In 2008 the decision was made to stop selling knitting kits and to concentrate on designing only.

Her philosophy: to design flattering clothing which one actually wants to wear and will enjoy to make. This enjoyment of making starts with a well written pattern. Because of her believe that everyone should be able to make her designs, all of her patterns are extensively explained, both in writing and in charts. Besides, she’s always available for questions about her designs. You can contact her for pattern support through her website

Currently, she divides her time between designing, pattern writing, knitting and taking care of the children. She also likes; reading fantasy, watching sci-fi, swimming, taking long walks and horse riding.
