English

This pattern is available as part of the Ravellenics 2021 collection.
(it was originally a speed challenge, but is now just a fun reversible hat you can knit at any speed ☻)

There may be a multi-size version of the pattern later.

For now it’s one size with 2 length options - beanie or a longer version that you can wear either as a slouchy hat or with a cuff.

approx. 130m/145yds for a beanie
approx. 180m/200yds for the longer version

It’s not classic rib, but instead is a stitch that’s worked a little like brioche, but don’t be scared of the B-word - even if you have never knitted a brioche stitch, I’m sure you’ll be able to knit this.

all you need to know how to do is knit, purl, slip and yarnover -
the specific way to work the yarnovers is illustrated in the pattern

the finished hat is reversible.
the stitch works well with variegated yarns

the pattern is listed as worsted, but you can substitute a light aran or heavy DK if you like

Instructions are both written and charted, so you can work the way you prefer. ☻
