The sock is knitted toe up with a short row heel and and gusset.

This pattern might easily be changed into a diagonal lace sock or a sock with diagonal cables (take care to cast on additional stitches if you make a cabled one)….. just a suggestion. Any small striped pattern will look nice knitted diagonally.
Mhm… two colourchanging yarns knitted against each other, the colours walking to the outside to the sock. Two colours instead of the purls - be creative. I’m looking forward to your ideas of inside-out possibilities.
